Flex Fitness was one of the few fitness clubs in all of Canada to train with the use of Kettlebells in 2005. The first to do this was Steve Maxwell (Maxercise) located in Philadelphia during the 1990's.  Pavel Tsatsouline and Dragondoor brought the wave of kettlebells to the United States.  This is where I got to meet Pavel and the rest of the others in the Dragondoor organization.  Andrea DuCane, John DuCane along with Pavel run the organization.  It was wonderful to have Andrea as my senior instructor during the Russian Kettlebell Challenge (RKC) in which I still attended the workshop while being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the early stages.  Andrea touched my heart when she expressed her thoughts to me personally that I have something special and I will make an impact to many people.  I would like to thank her because I will never forget what she said to me after the weekend.  Andrea is a special person who holds a place in my heart.

There were currently 10 well qualified Kettlebell instructors in Canada (2005) including a few affiliated with Flex Fitness . However, there is a gentleman on Flex Fitness and I can personally say he is quite good pressing those 88 lb Kettlebells!

The Kettlebell (kb) can assist anyone from a sport athlete, military, police force, martial artist, to that regular individual who wants to become active in exercising. This is definitely a bonus for females who want to improve on those problem areas such as hips, legs and arms. Kettlebells allows you to tone up and lose fat at the same time. The Kettlebell fitness program utilizes all your core muscles, which are essential for maintaining good health. Unlike any other standard weight training or fitness program, Kettlebells reduce the risk of injury because the movements are based on functional movements.  A typical Kettlebell routine builds functional muscular strength by mimicking movements in your everyday life such as picking up groceries, gardening or flipping over a mattress. A single routine will use all ranges of motions so joints and muscles are strengthened from all angles. Currently known stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Charlize Theron and others are training with Kettlebells.

I can truly say the kettlebell is a very powerful tool and not many people have even heard about it.  I am still in shock how quick my body responded from just doing kettlebell swings and snatches.  I've lost 23 lbs my first month and 4 1/2 inches off my waist!  Thanks again Richard for the detail techniques which made a huge difference in seeing those results.  By the way, I haven't look like this since I was in College and lets just say its been more than 20 years!

I wish I came across kettlebells a long time ago.  It helped me shed off my fat so quickly and at the same time toning my whole body.  As a woman, I strongly recommend others to learn kettlebells from Richard as it targets all the problem areas us females have such as our hips, buttocks, legs, and arms.  Thanks again Richard for showing me simple exercises with huge results.  I never knew I would be able to see my tiny bicep after a month and fit into that snuggly pair of jeans that I stole from my sister!
